ONLY GREEN TRUCK WITHIN BEIJING AS FROM 1 JULY
In order to ensure a green Olympics and Paralympics in Beijing, Chinese authorities have reinforced their Olympic Games special environmental measures.
High-emission or yellow-labelled vehicles will be banned from within the city, as from 1 July, 2008.
The new policy stipulates that:
- As with immediate effect, any trucks not in possession of a Beijing licence plate will not be allowed to enter the city.
- Local trucks within Beijing will also not be allowed to drive within the city and downtown during the day. Trucks will only be permitted to drive within the city from 11pm to 6am.
Additional charges will be issued by the Beijing municipality for all haulage from the port to Beijing and back again.
